Hello my dear readers,
I am backed from my short getaway overseas trip from 20th February 2011 to 28th February 2011 to a city in United States named Florida. The main purpose of my trip was to visit my grandmother and also, to give myself a break during the school holidays. I had visited many places but the most unforgettable memory was one of the meals I had with my grandmother near her place on the third day.
We went to a restaurant named Sweet Melissa's Cafe in the Sanibel Island Market Place for our dinner. Before we enter this restaurant, the building of the restaurant looks ordinary but please do not be fooled by their unexciting exterior. After entering it and had our dinner, I am totally impressed and pleasantly surprised by their appealing food and good services.
When we entered the restaurant, the waiters welcomed us and we were attended within minutes despite the countless number of customers in the restaurant. We sat at a table near the windows in order to see the nice scenery of the beach and the deep blue sea. Before ordering, there was this kind waiter informing us about the huge portion of their food so that we would not waste our money by ordering one portion each.
This was rarely seen in other ordinary cafes or restaurants because the waiters there did not treat us as their customers, but their friends I think. So, my grandmother and I ordered a set of Conch Chowder salad, a set of Grilled Salmon and a side dish of Steamed Mussels sharing among the two of us. To our surprise, the portions were really huge and we were so glad that the waiter informed us before ordering.
Furthermore, the tables were widely separated so that each group was able to enjoy their meals with conversations. After waiting for around ten minutes, all the dishes were served and the presentation of the dishes was so beautiful and artistic which was worth taking pictures of it. The taste of the dishes were shockingly good in every bite and especially the mussels, it was really outstanding as compared to the others I had locally. I would recommend many of the dishes as superb and their services as wonderful.
Dessert is a very must after every good meal. We ordered a set of Handmade Strawberry Sorbet and Brownies. It was simply delicious and fresh unlike some kind of dessert which was made in the morning and served at night. Although the meal was expensive, but it worth every penny. I would definitely go back and recommend anyone to go there if there is a chance because you might not find any similar restaurant like Sweet Melissa's Cafe in local.
For me, what could have been better was, there could be some background music so that the customers could relax their minds while having their meals since the restaurant is already located near the beach. Other than that, I guess there is nothing left for me to recommend because this is really a great dining experience for me.
Overall, I am thrilled to dine in Sweet Melissa's Cafe with the most attentive services by the waiters and most importantly, the great food they have there! I am really looking forward to my next visit to my grandmother in Sanibel. This is the address of the restaurant as I am sure many of you would definitely want to try out their food after reading this review: 1625 Periwinkle Way Sanibel, Fl 33957-4402.
